At Yale College, most undergraduate courses and majors are offered under the supervision of academic departments, and divisions of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences that offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The most distinctive feature of Yale College’s undergraduate life is the residential college system. The college consists of dormitory buildings surrounding an enclosed courtyard and offers a cafeteria, library, and student facilities ranging from printers to darkrooms. Wikipedia

Yale Scholarships and Grants
Scholarships and grants are often referred to as gift aid because they do not have to be repaid. They fall into one of three categories in Yale’s financial aid awards:
1. Yale Scholarship
The Yale Scholarship is a grant provided to Yale undergraduates from the University’s own funds. Its award is based solely on financial need.
Yale Financial Aid
2. Merit-based Scholarships
Merit scholarships can be funded by private companies, employers, and non-profit organizations; not offered by Yale. Their award is based on criteria directly related to the student’s performance in academics, sports, music, or another area of special interest. Merit scholarships may reduce or replace the Student Share component of Yale’s financial aid award.
